Squash in air fryer turns out beautifully roasted without needing much oil or oven time. The airfryer intensifies its natural sweetness and gives the squash a slightly crisp surface while keeping it tender inside. Squash in air fryer is also convenient—it cooks faster and creates less mess, making it an ideal choice for busy evenings.
Step 1
Cut the squash:
Peel the squash (if needed), remove the seeds and cut it into cubes or thin half-moon slices, around 1-2 cm thick.
Step 2
Season the squash:
Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. For extra flavour, add garlic powder, paprika, cinnamon or a drizzle of maple syrup.
Step 3
Arrange in airfryer:
Place the squash in a single layer in the airfryer basket. Don’t overlap the pieces—if necessary, cook in batches.
Step 4
Cook the squash:
Airfry at 200°C (392°F) for 15-20 minutes. Flip or shake the basket halfway through. The squash should be golden on the outside and soft inside.
To make the most flavourful squash in air fryer, choose firm varieties like butternut or acorn squash. Make sure the slices are evenly sized so they cook at the same speed. If you want a sweet version, use cinnamon and maple syrup. For savoury, go with herbs and a pinch of chilli. Squash in air fryer is great served with grains, in salads, or simply on its own with a dipping sauce.
