All recipes: Snacks

Snacks and party food are where the air fryer earns its place. Wings, chips, onion rings, nachos and sausage rolls all come out crisp with very little oil, and a batch is usually ready in 15 to 25 minutes. The recipes here give the temperature, the time and the quantities, plus advice on how to avoid the most common problems, such as soggy coatings or uneven browning.

Getting a crisp finish

Space is the main thing. Spread the food in a single layer and shake or turn the basket halfway through so the hot air reaches every side. Pat wet ingredients dry before cooking, and use a light spray of oil rather than a splash. Most snacks cook at 180 °C to 200 °C. Chicken wings and other poultry should reach 75 °C in the centre, with no pink meat, so check with a thermometer.

Cooking for a crowd

If you are making food for several people, cook in batches and keep the first batch warm in a low oven. Reheating in the air fryer for a minute or two brings the crunch back. For something sweet afterwards, look at desserts, or see vegetables for lighter options. The air fryer cooking times and temperatures table covers the full list.
