All recipes: Fish
Fish is quick to cook in an air fryer and the hot air gives fillets a lightly crisp surface. Most fish takes between 6 and 15 minutes, so it is worth keeping an eye on it. The recipes in this section give the temperature, the time and the signs that show the fish is ready, from flaking flesh to an opaque centre.
How to tell when fish is cooked
A thermometer is the most reliable guide. Salmon is usually ready at 50 °C to 55 °C, when the centre is still moist and just beginning to flake, while white fish such as cod and haddock is ready at about 60 °C, when it turns opaque and separates into flakes. Prawns are cooked when they turn pink and opaque, at about 63 °C. Breaded and frozen fish should be cooked until it is hot all the way through, following the time in the recipe.
Tips for tender fillets
Pat the fish dry, brush it lightly with oil and line the basket with a perforated liner or a lightly oiled rack so the skin does not stick. Cook skin-side down for crisp skin. Fish sits well beside vegetables or chips for a simple supper, and you can compare times with the air fryer cooking times and temperatures table.
