Recipes for the air fryer, not adapted from the oven
Air Fryer Recipes is a British recipe website dedicated to the air fryer and nothing else. Every recipe is written for circulating hot air and gives exact times, temperatures and quantities, so there is no guesswork.
Meat, poultry and fish always come with a core temperature based on guidance from the Food Standards Agency (FSA), and recipes are reviewed and updated on an ongoing basis. More about the editorial team and its principles.

Why cook with an air fryer?
Less oil
An air fryer cooks with hot air that circulates around the food. A little oil, or none at all, is enough for a crisp surface.
Quick and simple
An air fryer heats up in a few minutes and many dishes are ready sooner than in the oven. Set the temperature and the time, and that is it.
Less mess
There is no fat spattering over the hob, and the basket and rack are easy to clean on most models.

Common air fryer questions
The questions people ask most about cooking with an air fryer, answered briefly.
What is an air fryer and how does it work?
An air fryer is a compact convection oven. A heating element warms the air and a powerful fan circulates it around the food, which gives a golden, crisp surface with little or no oil.
What temperature should I cook at in an air fryer?
Most dishes work well at 180–200 °C. Meat and poultry usually cook at around 180 °C, chips and vegetables that need to be crisp at 200 °C, and baking at 150–160 °C. Every dish is listed in the air fryer cooking times and temperatures guide.
Can I use oven recipes in an air fryer?
Yes, most can be adapted. Reduce the temperature by about 20 °C and shorten the cooking time by roughly 20–25%. Check the food a few minutes before the end, because power varies from one air fryer to another.
How do I know when meat is cooked in an air fryer?
The Food Standards Agency says food is safe once it has been heated to 70 °C for 2 minutes or 75 °C for 30 seconds. In practice, aim for 75 °C in the centre of poultry, minced meat, sausages and burgers, with no pink meat and clear juices. Whole cuts of pork need to reach 70 °C. Use a meat thermometer in the thickest part.
How do I keep food juicy in an air fryer?
Do not overfill the basket, so the air can circulate, and take meat out as soon as it reaches the core temperature in the recipe. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Can I bake in an air fryer?
Yes. Muffins, brownies, scones and biscuits work well, usually at 150–160 °C. Use heatproof tins or silicone cases, and remember that the smaller space means mixtures cook faster than in a full-size oven.
Can I use foil or baking paper in an air fryer?
Yes, but never put it in loose or leave the basket empty, because the fan can lift it onto the heating element. Weigh it down with the food and do not cover the whole base, as that blocks the airflow. Perforated air fryer liners are made for the job.
